About the Role The Correctional Officer (Canines) role is pivotal in ensuring the good order and security of the Ravenhall Correctional Centre. This position requires flexibility, as you will work in various environments and handle a range of responsibilities related to security and prisoner management. Your primary duties will include supervising prisoner activities, enforcing drug strategies, and managing canine security operations to enhance the safety of staff, prisoners, and visitors. Please click here for the Job Description: Your Essential Skills for Success Ability to complete pre-service training successfully. Certificate III in Correctional Practice or willingness to undertake a traineeship. Current Senior First Aid Certificate. Excellent communication skills and ability to manage conflicts effectively. Knowledge of security legislation and canine handling procedures. The ability to successfully complete the Corrections Victoria SESG Canine Handlers Course. Additionally, candidates should be physically fit, must be able to work a rotating roster, and be available to work weekends and/or night shifts as per your roster. This role is situated within a correctional setting and will involve direct contact with prisoners. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is mandatory.
