Description As the Engineering Lead – Future Projects, Electronic Architecture (EA) , you will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction and execution of HDA’s future‑focused programs. This position is responsible for leading the EA aspects of early‑phase projects, ensuring engineering solutions are strategically aligned, technically sound, and deliverable within scope, schedule, and budget. You will work closely with the EA Manager, discipline leads, and key stakeholders across Systems Engineering, Business Development & Strategy (BD&S), and Research & Development to develop high‑quality tender documentation and robust engineering estimates. Your leadership will help define resource requirements, guide teaming strategies, and support supplier engagement to deliver innovative and mission‑aligned EA solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of defence engineering environments, legislative frameworks, and customer mission requirements, along with the ability to operate effectively in a matrixed, multidisciplinary team. Primary Duties / Responsibilities Ensure future project EA engineering activities are completed within agreed schedules, quality, and budgets. Lead the EA Engineering Team contribution to meeting HDA new business objectives. Co‑ordinate technical resources for allocated future projects. Support as a technical resource for future projects allocated to another technical lead. Lead tender and BD&S package development within the EA discipline. Ensure System Safety and safe engineering work practices are paramount and implemented for the future project within the EA scope. Ensure System Security of future projects is achieved in accordance with project specific requirements. Ensure resources are budgeted from other areas of the HDA EA team to deliver on future project outcomes. Lead risk analysis to ensure that key risks are identified, monitored and mitigated. Work with both internal and external stakeholders, to deliver future project EA engineering and technical solutions for Hanwha and its customers. Ensure that future project EA technical artifacts are appropriately configuration managed. Promote of high professionalism and engineering excellence. Engage with the other areas of the HDA EA team to encourage collaboration and sharing of ideas. Promote and lead by example Hanwha’s core values. Tailor communication style and language to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Provide EA support to other areas of Hanwha where required. Other duties consistent with the position where required and/or requested by the supervisor. Note The Engineering Lead – Future Projects EA may be required to travel to subcontractor and test locations which may be within Victoria, Interstate and Internationally. Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in relevant Engineering discipline. Postgraduate qualifications in engineering or technology fields. Experience Extensive experience in Engineering management roles within Defence industry, preferably based around delivering/estimating complex large‑scale programs. Prior experience in leading and managing a professional, tertiary qualified workforce. Skills / Capabilities Proven ability to influence technical and project engineers. Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Effective communication and collaboration abilities. Proven ability to effectively manage relationships and positively resolve disputes with internal/external stakeholders. Meticulous approach to work, with the ability to identify potential risks and issues proactively. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to work under tight deadlines without compromising quality. Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. Demonstrates adaptability and can be flexible to meet the needs of the organisation and other team members. Ability to be innovative and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
