Floriade Team Leader | Full-time Permanent Classification: General Service Officer Level 7Salary: $84,902 - $88,071 plus superannuationPosition No: 46022Directorate: City and EnvironmentAdvertised (Gazettal date): 12 November 2025Contact Officer: Lisa Flederis on *************@act.gov.au or 1*** Details: As the Floriade Team Leader, you’ll supervise a small team of horticultural staff and contractors in the construction, planting, and maintenance of Floriade’s floral displays. You’ll work closely with the Floriade Head Gardener to plan and implement seasonal programs, ensuring all works are delivered on time, safely, and to the highest standard. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate horticultural teams in the construction and presentation of Floriade displays Collaborate with the Head Gardener to plan and deliver seasonal work programs Provide induction and direction to staff, apprentices, and contractors Operate and maintain horticultural machinery and equipment Mentor apprentices and trainees across Place Management Ensure safety standards and ACTPS values are upheld in daily operations What We’re Looking For Practical experience in high-level horticultural display construction and equipment use Proven ability to lead teams and follow supervisory direction Strong commitment to safe work practices and risk identification Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills Confidence using mobile apps and digital tools in daily work Alignment with ACTPS values: Respect, Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation Eligibility / Other Requirements Certificate III in Horticulture or Turf Management or equivalent is essential Workplace Health and Safety Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain General Construction Induction Card (White Card) Asbestos awareness card or a willingness to obtain - Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation is required before commencement, for further information refer to: Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT Silica awareness - For further information refer to: WorkSafe website Driver’s licence C Class is essential, Medium Rigid (MR) is preferred Implement Traffic Control Plans qualification is desirable or willingness to obtain AQF-3 Chemical Accreditation is desirable or willingness to obtain Notes An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
