Various Security Operations Part time Sessional and Full time Team Leader Department of Parliamentary Services – Canberra ACT Part time, Full time, Permanent, Casual/Temporary The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 4 Various Security Operations Part time Sessional and Full time Team Leader within Security Operations. Security Operations Team Leaders are responsible for leading teams of Parliamentary Security Service Officers to deliver security outcomes within Australian Parliament House. Team Leaders mentor and develop their team members, address any performance issues, and are responsible for building and maintaining a positive culture within their team. Team Leaders lead response to security, first aid or other emergency management incidents within Australian Parliament House. Team Leaders have excellent customer service skills, and are able to effectively communicate, negotiate and when required de‑escalate situations with people from all walks of life. They support their managers by providing clear and accurate incident reporting, assisting with planning and rostering, and ensuring their team members understand and comply with Australian Parliament House security policies and procedures. Security Operations Team Leaders may lead teams of security officers undertaking general security and emergency response duties, or Control Room operators responsible for managing security infrastructure within Australian Parliament House. Full‑time Employees: Employees engaged on a full‑time basis will work an average of 37.5 ordinary hours per week over the 24/7 rotating shift roster cycle. Part time Sessional Employees: Permanent part‑time employment (sessional employment) as a PSS Team Leader provides an opportunity that is unique to Australian Parliament House and the Australian Public Sector. As a sessional officer you are a permanent part‑time Commonwealth employee, and only commit to working during the days that Parliament is sitting (have a look at the Parliamentary Sittings 2025, noting that the 2026 calendar will be released in the near future). As a sessional employee you primarily support the House of Representatives and Senate chambers, giving you a front‑row seat to Australia’s democracy in action. Eligibility The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.
