Join us as a FDVA Family Residential Advocate, where you’ll assist a program that provides safe, secure accommodation and support for women and children escaping family and domestic violence. The Program Communicare Tuart House is a regional accommodation and support service for women and their children who are homeless, or are at imminent risk of homelessness, as a result of family and domestic violence. It is a culturally safe place for women and their children to be empowered and remain safe while rebuilding their lives. The Role FDVA Family Residential Advocate assists women and children escaping from, or seeking support for, Family and Domestic Violence and Abuse to ensure their wellbeing and safety. Focused on delivering practical support, this role involves assisting with daily living tasks and parenting, aimed at supporting victim‑survivors recovery and wellbeing. The role will be based at our Busselton refuge, with the position offered on a casual basis. Occasional travel may be required for this role. Aligned to Section 27 of the Equal Opportunity Act, due to the nature of the position and industry, only Female Applicants will be accepted for this role. In this role you will: Undertakes daily living duties, including but not limited to cleaning, cooking and parental support, that aids client capacity building. Performs initial assessments upon client referral to establish the client’s suitability for the program. Supports clients to use positive parenting techniques and ensures the psychological safety of the children at Tuart House. Provides crisis support, safety planning, information, advocacy, and referrals for both residential and non-residential clients engaged in Tuart House services. Acts as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and responds to enquiries ensuring that these are recorded, addressed, resolved and/or re‑directed for resolution in a timely manner. The service operates 24/7, and working patterns may include occasional evening, sleep shifts, and weekend working. Rosters are based on business needs and subject to change. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to adapt to a fast‑paced environment. Specific shift times will be discussed during the interview process. About You You bring a proactive mindset, and a commitment to keeping women and children safe from family domestic violence. In addition to the above you will have: Minimum qualification in Certificate III in Community Services or relevant experience Relevant experience in a similar role, including working with clients in crisis who may present with complex needs. Skills in crisis response, risk assessment, safety planning, outreach, referral, advocacy, and negotiation. An understanding of the appropriate relationship boundaries with clients and other service providers and the ability to uphold professional boundaries and work within the constraints of the role. Intermediate communication and problem‑solving skills. Knowledge of Family and Domestic Violence Abuse issues as they pertain to women and children who have been impacted by violence or abuse within intimate relationships or the family. Awareness and understanding of diversity, gender, and social inclusion, with particular respect for Aboriginal culture and communities (desirable). Valid Driver’s Licence, Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance. Why Join Us?
