Postdoctoral Fellow – Marine Science Join UNSW as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Marine Science, leading high‑quality marine restoration and ecology research, including on the Operation Posidonia project. Key Details Level A – $113 K – $121 K plus 17 % Superannuation and annual leave loading Fixed term – 2 years Full‑time – 35 hours per week Responsibilities Conceptualise, design and conduct marine restoration and ecology research; assist research teams. Produce technical and progress reports, manuscripts for publication and tenders or grants for external funding. Present at conferences and workshops relevant to the project. Supervise and mentor research students where required. Provide occasional teaching support, assess student learning achievements and support students in line with UNSW policy. Develop and manage communications with key stakeholders, including Indigenous owners. Coordinate project administration: workshops, meetings, minutes, action follow‑ups and status reporting. Plan and complete marine research activities within agreed project timelines. Monitor, track and report on project deliverables to ensure time, cost and quality metrics align with approved plans. Monitor research protocols; provide problem‑solving for evolving research challenges. Maintain and manage laboratory and field supplies; assist with laboratory finances. Build equipment for underwater and mesocosm experiments and maintain mesocosm systems (e.g., at the Sydney Institute of Marine Science). Collect and process biological samples; assist with data analysis. Adhere to the Code of Conduct and values. Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures. Qualifications & Experience A PhD in marine biology, marine ecology, marine science or a related field, or equivalent competence gained through education, training and experience. Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations in related areas. Knowledge of research protocols, experimental design and planning. Demonstrated ability to conduct high‑quality academic research with limited supervision. Experience working in a team and collaborating across disciplines; ability to work independently and manage competing demands. Project‑management experience, including development of project plans, objectives and documentation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail. Excellent time‑management skills and the ability to meet competing deadlines. Experience with a range of computer systems and applications. Extensive experience and appropriate certifications for SCUBA diving (e.g., PADI Scientific Diver, Dive Master, Instructor or ADAS commercial diving).
