Position: Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $75,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation per annum Location St Peters NSW 2044 Our client is seeking an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic to join their team located in St Peters, New South Wales. As an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic you will be responsible for delivering high-quality service, maintenance, repair and commissioning of HVAC systems across a diverse portfolio of commercial sites. The role requires technical expertise, strong customer service and a commitment to safe work practices and compliance with industry standards. Duties and Responsibilities Preparing and Setting Out Work Review drawings and specifications to determine job requirements. Mark out installation points, prepare tools, and set up equipment for tasks. Pipework and Mechanical Fittings Drill holes, fix brackets, and cut, bend, or thread piping for installations. Connect components and pipework by bolting, soldering, brazing, welding, or riveting. Check the alignment and fit of all connected equipment. Monitor BMS (Building Management Systems) for operational status and alarms. Maintain accurate service records and documentation. Installing and Replacing System Parts Fit and repair compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, gauges, switches, and copper lines used for refrigerant, chilled water, compressed air, or gas. Support installation of complete air conditioning and refrigeration units as required. Testing and Commissioning Systems Fill systems with gas or liquid to test for leaks. Investigate, diagnose, and resolve faults efficiently. Prepare minor repair quotes and ensure corrective works are completed to regulatory and safety standards. Servicing and Fault Diagnosis Carry out scheduled servicing and maintenance of air conditioning systems. Identify, troubleshoot, and repair faults efficiently. Overhaul units by replacing faulty or worn components. System Adjustments and Record-Keeping Adjust controls, calibrate mechanisms, and reassemble systems following service or repair. Keep accurate records of system issues, repairs completed, and parts used. Safety and Compliance Perform all work in line with WHS standards, ARCtick licensing requirements, and environmental regulations. Handle refrigerants safely and responsibly. Requirements Certificate III in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration or equivalent Minimum 12 months trade experience (commercial HVAC preferred) Current NSW driver’s licence WHS White Card Strong technical knowledge of residential and commercial HVAC systems Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving ability Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team Commitment to safety, compliance, and high-quality workmanship. Additional Information The role requires flexibility, with participation in an emergency call‑out roster and occasional support for installation works.
