Retail Operations Manager

Ten Tops is one of Australia's fastest‑growing discount retail brands — bold, fun, fast‑paced, and proudly part of the Bernardi Group, a family‑owned business with over 60 years of retail heritage. We are expanding rapidly across NSW, ACT and Victoria, and we’re on the hunt for a hands‑on Operations Manager who thrives in stores, leads from the front, and builds strong, capable teams. This is not a desk‑based role. You’ll be on the road, in stores, on the shop floor, and at the shelf edge — coaching, guiding, problem‑solving and supporting our Store Managers to deliver outstanding results every day. A valid driver’s licence is essential for this position due to the extensive travel requirements across the network. If you want to be part of a high‑growth retailer with genuine autonomy, real variety, and the chance to help shape the future of the Ten Tops brand, this is the opportunity for you. About the Role Reporting to the Head of Retail, the Operations Manager is responsible for the operational performance of our Ten Tops stores and for supporting the successful opening of new locations. You’ll lead Store Managers, mentor developing talent, uphold our retail standards, and ensure our stores are delivering on customer experience, sales, and profitability targets. As our network grows at pace, this role is pivotal to maintaining our high standards and supporting our teams across regional NSW. A company vehicle is provided, and due to the spread of the network, an average of two nights away from home per week should be expected. Key Responsibilities Store Leadership & Performance Full operational responsibility for trading stores across the network. Provide regular store visits, guidance and hands‑on coaching. Support and oversee new store openings, ensuring smooth delivery and strong execution. Maintain high store standards: full shelves, clean stores, strong ticketing, and excellent merchandising. Drive exceptional customer service and operational excellence. People Leadership Lead, mentor and develop Store Managers to build capable, confident teams. Multi‑site leadership experience managing 15+ people is essential for effectively leading our expanding network of Store Managers. Manage end‑to‑end recruitment for Store Managers and key store roles. Foster a supportive, positive workplace culture where people love to come to work. Build a pipeline of future leaders through coaching and ongoing development. Financial & Operational Control Deliver store budgets across wages, shrink, total loss and controllable costs. Ensure compliance with daily inventory processes, receival accuracy, and invoice management. Oversee accurate and timely stocktakes as required. Ensure marketing plans and promotional activity are executed consistently. Communication & Compliance Act as the link between Support Office and stores, ensuring clear and timely communication. Conduct audits and compliance checks using StorIQ and ensure follow‑up actions are completed. Maintain WHS standards across stores, promoting a safe working environment. Provide feedback, insights and operational knowledge to support the broader business strategy. Growth & Expansion Play an active role in new site selection and store design. Support the rollout of new concepts, layouts and process improvements as the brand evolves. Contribute to building a scalable retail operation that supports rapid national expansion. About You You’re a highly driven retail operator who loves being out in stores — not behind a desk. You take pride in coaching others, fixing issues on the spot, and making stores look great. You thrive in a fast‑paced, growing business where you can make real decisions, drive results, and have a meaningful impact every day. Multi‑site retail leadership experience (discount retail or grocery ideal). A minimum of 1‑2 years of retail operations or multi‑site management experience is required. A hands‑on approach, with the confidence to lead from the front. Strong people leadership skills and the ability to build capability in others. Excellent communication and the ability to influence across all levels. A focus on standards, operational excellence, and customer experience. A love for problem‑solving and getting things done — quickly and practically. Flexibility to travel regularly across regional NSW (overnight stays required). This role requires 25‑40% of time spent travelling between stores across the network. What We Offer A company vehicle for full‑time use. A hands‑on, varied role where no two days look the same. Autonomy, trust and the space to genuinely influence how our stores operate. A fast‑growing retail network with ongoing expansion opportunities. The chance to work closely with a family‑owned business that values its people. A supportive leadership team and real opportunities for long‑term career growth. If you’re a passionate operator who loves coaching people, improving stores, and driving strong performance, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and help shape the future of one of Australia’s most exciting retail brands. #J-18808-Ljbffr
