Overview The Senior Engineering Manager for Growth under the Low‑Touch Business Unit will build and lead engineering capability that owns the end‑to‑end self‑serve customer acquisition journey for Jira Service Management. You will lead a team of 10–12 engineers located in Australia/New Zealand. You will partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, Marketing, and Sales to deliver durable increases in customer acquisition and activation. You also have a strong interest in AI/ML and fluency in collaborating with Data Scientists and ML Engineers to deliver challenging projects that make a tangible business impact using cutting‑edge AI/ML technologies. Key Responsibilities Technical Strategy & Execution: Own technical strategy and delivery for the full self‑serve customer acquisition journey: awareness → buy → onboard → use. Translate product and GTM priorities into an engineering roadmap that directly improves business outcomes. Balance short‑term experimentation with longer‑term platform investments. Team Leadership & Development: Build and coach a high‑performing engineering team (individual contributors and tech leads), foster psychological safety, set hiring plans, and partner with PM, Design and DS DRIs to create clear delivery ownership. Data‑driven Decision Making: Partner with Data Science and Analytics to instrument the funnel, run experiments/A‑B tests, establish health signals and implement alerting for leading indicators of future risk. Use funnel & cohort analysis to prioritise work with measurable revenue impact. Product Engineering Mindset: Lead the team beyond technical execution to focus on business and customer value. Partner closely with Product & Design to evaluate and prototype new motions and ship minimum‑viable changes that unlock non‑linear growth for the business. Communication & Stakeholder Management: Strong communicator able to represent technical trade‑offs and risks to executives and business partners. Additional Responsibilities Enable your teams to ship features quickly and safely, providing them with the tooling and processes needed for success. Drive technical and operational excellence, pushing innovation and quality. Grow your team members' careers and keep them engaged. Support your team by holding regular one‑on‑ones, giving context on priorities, collaborating with other teams, unblocking projects, and resolving conflicts. Be both a technical leader and people manager responsible for guiding your teams to make solid technical decisions. Help to prioritize and coordinate the team's work alongside your product management and design peers. Qualifications We are looking for candidates with the following: Strong experience in engineering and people management at a senior level. Proven ability to develop and execute technical strategy that aligns with business goals. Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams, especially product, design, and data science. Background in building and scaling high‑performing engineering teams. Deep understanding of customer acquisition, growth metrics, and data‑driven product decisions. Interest in AI/ML technologies and collaborating with data scientists and ML engineers. Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
