About the role RFQ Opportunity 1-2 months Contract Melbourne based Hybrid Overview We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Business Intelligence (BI) / Power BI Consultant to serve as Key Personnel for a project focused on developing and implementing robust reporting and BI solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of high-quality BI artefacts, working closely with stakeholders in an Agile environment. Key Responsibilities Design and Implementation: Lead the design, development, and implementation of BI and reporting solutions, primarily leveraging Microsoft Power BI . Data Management: Work with underlying data connections from both source systems and static data sources , ensuring data quality and integrity. Database Interaction: Utilize SQL Server Management Studio to produce, optimize, and maintain necessary SQL scripts for data extraction and transformation. Report Development: Deliver a compelling and effective presentation layer including the production of various artefacts such as graphs, charts, maps, and drill-down reports . Agile Collaboration: Engage with end users in an iterative (Agile) fashion throughout the development process to gather requirements, validate prototypes, and ensure the delivered solution meets business needs. Knowledge Transfer: Impart essential skills to business users, enabling them to confidently use and self-serve with the BI tools upon project completion. Quality Assurance: Drive the quality of deliverables through rigorous unit testing , aiming for high coverage primarily achieved with automation . Documentation: Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including Technical Design Documents, Data Models, and Data Dictionaries . Deployment: Utilize and manage Azure DevOps release pipelines for continuous integration and deployment of BI solutions. Mandatory Skills and Experience Minimum 3 years of professional experience working within the Reports/BI domain . Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in the design and implementation of solutions using Microsoft Power BI . Demonstrated expertise in SQL Server Management Studio and the production of SQL scripts (T‑SQL proficiency is essential). Highly Desirable Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will also possess demonstrable experience in the following areas: Establishing and managing data connections to diverse data sources (source systems and static files). Developing user-friendly and visually impactful presentation layers, including advanced charting and drill-down capabilities. Working successfully in an Agile or iterative development environment, including direct engagement with business stakeholders. Experience in conducting effective skills transfer and training for business users. Practical experience in implementing automated unit testing strategies for BI deliverables. Proven ability to produce high-quality technical documentation (TDDs, Data Models, Data Dictionaries). Experience with deployment and version control using Azure DevOps release pipelines .
