The Leukaemia Biology Group at Children’s Cancer Institute undertakes highly translational research focused on the development of novel therapeutics for the treatment of high-risk and drug-resistant acute leukaemia in children and adults. This position will contribute to a cutting-edge project involving the identification and evaluation of novel therapeutic compounds in patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models of acute myeloid leukaemia. Responsibilities Carry out preclinical drug testing using patient derived xenograft (PDX) models of leukaemia. Perform routine laboratory assays, such as flow cytometry, qPCR, Western blot and cell culture. Conduct research as a member of a team and are supervised by a Senior Scientist and the Group Head. Assist with planning and coordination of research efforts. Contribute to high quality publications. Qualifications An undergraduate degree with Honours or equivalent degree in related area. A track record of biomedical research experience. Solid knowledge and experience working within a laboratory environment. Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct experiments. Ability to interpret and communicate results to the supervisor and research group. Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team. Excellent organisational and time management skills.
