Support Officer - Darling Downs Local Jobs Program We’re looking for a full-time Support Officer to join the Darling Downs Local Jobs Program (LJP) team in our Toowoomba office, contracted through to June 2027. This is your chance to be part of a program that’s all about creating opportunities; helping people reskill, upskill, and find meaningful work while supporting local employers to meet their workforce needs. The Local Jobs Program, hosted by RDA DDSW and administered by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR), brings together employers, training providers, education organisations, and community groups to design practical solutions that connect people with jobs. As Support Officer, you’ll play a key role in making this happen. Working alongside our Job Coordinator to strengthen local networks, support projects funded under the Local Recovery Fund, and ensure employment opportunities are maximised across the Darling Downs. This role is varied and rewarding. One day you might be coordinating a Jobs Expo, the next you could be helping employers connect with government programs or supporting stakeholders to design training pathways that meet industry demand. You’ll be the local presence for DEWR, helping to promote initiatives, share labour market insights, and build strong partnerships that make a real difference in people’s lives. What You’ll Do Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, training providers, job services, and community organisations. Support tailored approaches to reskilling, upskilling, and employment pathways. Help coordinate local employment initiatives, including events like Jobs Expos. Provide secretariat support to the Local Jobs Taskforce (organising meetings, preparing papers, recording outcomes). Share labour market data and insights to inform local training and employment opportunities. Assist with government responses to large-scale retrenchments and recruitment drives. Undertake travel as required within the Darling Downs Employment region to support activities. For a full copy of the Position Description, visit About You At RDA DDSW, we value the unique contribution each person brings. We welcome applications from all members of the community who are passionate about creating opportunities and supporting job seekers. Australian work authorisation is required at the time of application. You’ll thrive in this role if you: Communicate confidently, in writing, in person, and online. Enjoy building networks and engaging with stakeholders. Have knowledge of employment services and training pathways, and a desire to improve work readiness for job seekers. Can adapt to change and work collaboratively across industries and organisations. Are dependable, reliable, and patient. Want to be part of something bigger a purpose‑driven program where your work directly impacts people’s futures. Who are we? At Regional Development Australia Darling Downs and South West (RDA DDSW), we are passionate about building strong, connected, and vibrant regions where people, businesses, and communities can thrive. Backed by the Australian Government and working in partnership with state, territory, and local governments, our network brings together local leaders across government, business, and community groups to drive positive change. We focus on supporting economic growth, workforce development, local procurement, and strategic regional planning, ensuring that our region is resilient, inclusive, and full of opportunity. By working closely with our communities, we help shape the future of regional Australia, making it a place where innovation, investment, and wellbeing flourish. Why Join Us At RDA DDSW, you’ll be part of a small, supportive team. We offer competitive salary packages and the opportunity to make a tangible difference in your community. Employment is a key enabler of many of life’s successes, and in this role, you’ll help unlock those opportunities for people across the Darling Downs. How to Apply If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply by attaching both a cover letter outlining your skills and experience along with your current resume.
