What you'll do As the Payroll Manager (Part-Time), you will be entrusted with the critical task of managing the entire payroll function from start to finish. Your day‑to‑day activities will involve not only processing payroll but also ensuring that every aspect complies with current legislation and internal policies. You will supervise one Payroll Officer while collaborating closely with People & Culture teams to guarantee accurate employee classifications and seamless onboarding/offboarding experiences. Your ability to reconcile complex transactions such as leave entitlements or redundancies will be essential in maintaining operational excellence. Additionally, your role will require you to prepare insightful reports for management review while acting as the primary point of contact for all payroll‑related queries from staff. By staying abreast of industry trends and legislative changes, you will help shape best practices within the organisation’s payroll operations. Oversee the complete processing of payroll on a fortnightly basis for approximately 260 employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness at every stage. Ensure strict compliance with all relevant awards, enterprise agreements, Fair Work legislation, National Employment Standards, and superannuation obligations. Manage superannuation processes and reporting requirements to the Australian Taxation Office, maintaining up‑to‑date records at all times. Maintain and update comprehensive payroll records and employee data, safeguarding data integrity and confidentiality throughout all processes. Reconcile leave entitlements, terminations, redundancies, and other payroll‑related transactions with meticulous attention to detail. Administer master payroll data including overtime rates, penalty rates, shift rates, allowances, and deductions to ensure correct payments are made. Prepare detailed payroll reports as required and liaise effectively with accountants and external auditors during audits or reviews. Monitor actual versus budgeted payroll costs by preparing regular reports to assist management in effective labour cost control. Respond promptly to employee queries regarding payroll matters such as pay rates, leave balances, tax issues, superannuation contributions, and salary increments. Manage onboarding and offboarding payroll functions efficiently, including final pays and entitlements for departing staff members. Exceptional interpersonal communication abilities that enable you to provide clear guidance to both employees and management teams. Proven capability in managing competing priorities under tight deadlines while supervising staff in a collaborative team setting. Meticulous attention to detail combined with unwavering integrity when handling confidential information related to employee records. Excellent time management skills paired with strong problem‑solving abilities that allow you to resolve issues efficiently as they arise.
