At Kennington Primary School, we strive for educational excellence, promote lifelong learning, and prepare students for their role in the local and global community. Our Values Respect – Treating everybody and everything with consideration and courtesy, and looking after myself, others, and the environment. Resilience – Managing my emotions and bouncing back from experiences that may not have turned out as expected. Personal Best – Always aiming high, being optimistic and believing in success. School Profile Kennington Primary School is located on an expansive 12.1‑hectare site in Strathdale, a southeastern suburb of Bendigo, near beautiful native forests. The site was acquired by the Victorian State Government in 1991 and, following refurbishment, the school relocated to its current location in 1995. With enrolments now stabilising between approximately 580 and 600 students, the school delivers a high‑quality education by maximising available resources and fostering strong partnership with parents. Selection Criteria SC1 – Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills; experience responding to student learning needs. SC2 – Experience planning and implementing high‑impact teaching strategies guided by student learning, and evaluating their impact on growth. Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges – range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparation and teaching of programmes to achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills, engaging students and improving their learning. Range 2 teachers play a significant role in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to policy development, and supporting staff to practise high‑quality instruction. Range 1 teachers focus on developing skills to become effective practitioners, receive structured support and mentoring, and may supervise or train student teachers. Responsibilities Direct teaching of student groups and individual students. Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum areas or programmes. Undertaking classroom teaching and organisational duties as directed by the School Principal. Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions. Child Safe Standards Victorian government schools operate as child‑safe environments. All staff protect students from abuse or harm in accordance with child‑safe standards. DE Values The department’s values – Responsiveness, Integrity, Impartiality, Accountability, Respect, Leadership and Human Rights – complement each school's own values and underpin the behaviours expected of Victorian public sector employees.
