Consultant Psychiatrist – Sunshine Hospital Employment Type: Part‑Time (29.4 hours/week) – Ongoing Salary: HN19‑59 + Superannuation + Salary Packaging Location: Sunshine Hospital, Western Health Overview The Western Health Mental Health and Wellbeing Services team is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a dedicated, collaborative unit. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to progressive, high‑impact mental health initiatives within a vibrant community of one million people in Melbourne’s western suburbs. Key Responsibilities Provide expert clinical leadership in all aspects of Psychiatry across inpatient units, emergency department and new Mental Health at Home Service. Develop and maintain best practice psychiatric care, incorporating interdisciplinary teamwork and evidence‑based strategies. Lead teaching and supervision of trainees, and contribute to research initiatives that advance mental health service delivery. Strategic planning and leadership, fostering a Recovery‑oriented, consumer‑centred service model. Maintain strong clinical relationships with consumers, carers, and multidisciplinary staff, facilitating informed recovery decisions. About You Registered Psychiatrists with AHPRA and membership of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (desirable). Demonstrated knowledge of current State and Commonwealth policies and national standards (NSQHS, National Mental Health Act). Experience in consumer rights, recovery approach, and culturally sensitive practice. Leadership and strategic thinking, with the ability to influence change and support team development. Proficient in teaching, research and interprofessional collaboration. Strong communication skills, respecting consumer diversity and supporting consumer participation at all service levels.
