The Role We’re searching for a hands-on, solutions-driven Production Engineer to lead our Maintenance function and keep our rapidly scaling food manufacturing operations running safely, smoothly, and efficiently. You’ll oversee our maintenance team, champion equipment reliability, drive continuous improvement, and lead engineering projects that boost uptime, safety, quality, and performance. This role is essential to supporting the next stage of our growth. You’ll report to the Production Manager and work closely with Quality to ensure all engineering activity meets food safety, HACCP, GMP, and GHP standards. What You’ll Do Lead & Empower the Team Provide day-to-day leadership aligned with Loco Love’s Purpose and G.R.A.C.E values Coach and develop maintenance team members across mechanical & electrical skillsets Allocate work, support on the floor, and foster strong cross-functional relationships Ensure all work meets GMP, hygiene, and foreign matter standards Own Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Build and continuously improve PM plans Introduce condition monitoring (vibration, wear, temperature) Boost Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by reducing downtime and extending asset life Manage food‑safety‑critical PM items (lubricants, seals) Keep Equipment Running Reliably Lead troubleshooting, repairs, and root cause analysis Manage contractors, OEMs, and spare parts Apply hygienic design principles to repairs and upgrades Oversee key assets: tempering machines, enrobers, cooling tunnels, ball mills, mixers, depositors, packaging equipment, utilities Scope, execute, and commission equipment upgrades Manage timelines, risks, documentation, and Change Control Work cross-functionally to deliver safe, reliable, compliant solutions Maintain maintenance logs, asset history, and CMMS data Develop SOPs, work instructions, and training tools Support HACCP, GMP, SQF, and audit readiness Standardise engineering processes across the facility Lead RCA, corrective actions, and CI initiatives Support Lean, Kaizen, and 5S Optimise equipment to reduce waste, improve yield, and enhance consistency Partner with Quality on equipment-related investigations You Bring Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering OR trade qualification with strong experience Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on troubleshooting ability Solid understanding of electrical systems, sensors, drives, and automation 3+ years in food manufacturing or FMCG preferred Experience supervising or supporting a technical team Strong communication, planning, and problem‑solving skills CMMS experience ideal Who You Are Proactive, practical, and solutions-driven Calm under pressure with a pragmatic mindset Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow‑through A great communicator who builds strong working relationships Able to balance strategic thinking with daily execution Our Values Radical Responsibility Authenticity Compassion Ready to sprinkle some magic into your career?
