Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is a new, dedicated public youth mental health service and is the first of its kind in Australia. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team. The Opportunity We are seeking a motivated newly qualified Registered Nurse to join our Graduate Mental Health Nurse Program, delivering high‑quality, youth‑focused care while progressing toward specialist mental health practice. This opportunity is ideal for a new RN eager to consolidate clinical expertise, specialise in youth mental health, and make a meaningful contribution to the lives of young people and their families, carers, and kin. This is a fixed‑term 24‑month program, offering a structured course in the first twelve months—including clinical supervision, professional development, and hands‑on practice—followed by enrolment in the postgraduate mental health nursing diploma. Participants will work in the acute inpatient unit and YPARC and be supported by a collaborative multidisciplinary team, fostering growth, learning, and excellence in specialist mental health nursing practice. The role is designed to consolidate clinical expertise and develop advanced skills in providing safe, recovery‑oriented care to young people. Participants spend the first twelve months in a structured course that includes clinical supervision, professional development, and hands‑on practice, before commencing their postgraduate mental health nursing diploma. You will be based either in the acute inpatient unit and YPARC, working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team. This position provides the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people and their families, contribute to high‑quality outcomes, and engage in continuous learning and service improvement, preparing you for a career as a specialist youth Mental Health Nurse. What You’ll Do Deliver safe, recovery‑oriented, and person‑centred care to young people in the acute inpatient unit and YPARC Apply and consolidate advanced mental health nursing knowledge and clinical skills in daily practice Participate in the 24‑month Graduate Mental Health Nurse Program, including structured learning, clinical supervision, and professional development Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including clinicians and the lived experience workforce, to plan and implement care Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives and best‑practice mental health care Support young people and their families, carers, and kin in understanding and participating in care decisions About You A motivated and compassionate newly Registered Nurse eager to transition into specialist youth mental health nursing and develop advanced clinical skills.
