Position Overview Ophthalmology Specialist Clinician – Royal Darwin Hospital, starting January 2026. Pay & Vacancy Base pay range: A$249,872.00/yr – A$305,368.00/yr. Remuneration package range: A$249,872 – A$305,368 (including salary A$213,380 – A$261,100). Division: Surgery and Critical Care, Darwin & Palmerston. Job nature: One fixed 6‑month vacancy, part‑time 0.6 (23 hours) per week. Responsibilities Conduct regular outpatient clinics and theatre sessions under the direction of Dr Nishantha Wijesinghe. Provide care, advice and management of patients, and participate in specialist outreach services to regional hospitals and remote communities. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of ophthalmologists with special interests in medical retina, uveitis, paediatrics, and oculoplastic. Ensure effective coordination and ongoing development of services, implementing innovative models of care. Participate in continuous medical education, including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, professional development, peer review, research, quality improvement activities and clinical audits. Qualifications Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. Demonstrated experience and expertise in providing ophthalmology services.
