Your new role The Goldfields University Department of Rural Health is seeking a Research Fellow (Academic Level B) to join our team and contribute to research focused on improving the health and well‑being of people living in rural and remote areas, and strengthening the rural health workforce. The Fellow will contribute to projects that address the unique health challenges faced by rural and remote communities, with a specific focus on qualitative research methods. Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) Designing, conducting, and analysing qualitative research that informs strategies to enhance rural health outcomes and support the development, sustainability, and wellbeing of the rural health workforce. Working closely with rural communities and health professionals, ensuring research is culturally sensitive and responsive to local needs. Publishing research findings in peer‑reviewed journals, presenting at conferences and disseminating findings through other methods such as policy briefs. Supporting grant applications, supervising HDR candidates, and collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams and community partners. Contributing to the generation of evidence‑informed policy development and advocacy efforts aimed at addressing rural health disparities and improving health outcomes for rural and remote populations. Selection Criteria A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalency. Evidence of a record of research outputs/creative works in high‑quality refereed journals/outlets consistent with the discipline. Evidence of quality and impact of research outputs/creative works/reports including journal ranking, citation indices, patents awarded, reputation and standing of publishing house, independent review from distinguished scholars or critics, or equivalent esteem measures as appropriate to the discipline. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross‑cultural sensitivity. Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day‑to‑day performance of the functions of this position. Highly Desirable Demonstrated expertise in qualitative research within rural health contexts. Desirable Demonstrated ability to supervise HDR students. A history of successful competitive grant applications. Role Requirements Fixed‑term contract; you will need current work rights in Australia that match tenure.
