Head Teacher Special Education - Campbelltown Performing Arts High School Location: Beverley Rd, Campbelltown 2560 NSW, Australia Type: Full‑time Status: Permanent Job Reference: 0000B3TK About this job Campbelltown Performing Arts High School is a specialist performing arts high school with an enrolment of approximately 910 students serving a diverse area of South West Sydney. 26.5% of our student population come from a non‑English speaking background and 110 students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Our school draws 60% of its enrolments from local schools and 40% through open audition in the areas of Dance, Drama, Music, Circus and Visual Arts. Our main focus is to improve student learning outcomes through the consistent application of quality teaching practices underpinned by whole‑school and targeted teacher professional learning. Our school's staffing entitlement in 2025 is 66 teaching staff and 12 non‑teaching staff. Our executive staff is stable with the majority being here for more than five years. 19% of our staff are in their early career as teachers. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy Specific Selection Criteria Capacity to build a team and establish a Special Education Unit, including the creation and management of new classes, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. Evidence of a collaborative leader with the capacity to manage a diverse faculty to build and maintain positive, inclusive, trusting relationships and partnerships with students, staff, families and the wider community. Demonstrates a high level of effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage and coordinate external agencies and support personnel to improve the educational and wellbeing outcomes of students.Proven ability to collaborate as a dynamic member of the executive team, demonstrating a deep understanding of policies that support inclusion and equity. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity. All Department of Education employees working in an SSP are required to be vaccinated as outlined at Vaccination requirements for school sites (nsw.gov.au). The successful candidate for this position will be required to confirm vaccination status prior to the department finalising their appointment and entry on duty.
