Senior Veterinary Nurse – Mayfair Veterinary Clinic Are you a veterinary nurse who is passionate about tailored patient care and building meaningful relationships with pets and their families? We are a privately owned small animal and exotics clinic in the heart of Hobart looking for an experienced veterinary nurse who is interested in stepping into a senior role once you settle into the team. This position is ideal for a nurse who is confident in their clinical skills, enjoys mentoring others, and has an interest in contributing to the smooth running of a busy practice. Previous management or team leadership experience will be highly regarded, but most importantly we are looking for someone who shares our values of kindness, respect, and teamwork. We have a loyal, proactive client base and work with a wide variety of species — dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and mice. This means no two days are ever the same, and there are always new challenges and opportunities to learn. If you don’t have extensive exotic experience, we are happy to provide training and support. At Mayfair, we are committed to creating a positive and supportive workplace culture. We do not tolerate abusive clients and ensure that every member of our team feels valued, respected, and empowered. Role Overview You will play a key role in both patient care and team leadership. You will provide high-quality nursing support across consultations, surgeries, diagnostics, and hospital care, while also mentoring and contributing to the daily organisation of the clinic. Key Responsibilities Deliver excellent nursing care for both small animals and exotics. Assist with surgery, anaesthetic monitoring, diagnostics, hospital patients and post-operative care. Provide client education and support, building trust with pet owners. Support veterinarians in all aspects of patient care. Mentor and guide junior nurses and students. Contribute to team coordination and stock management. Help maintain a positive, respectful clinic culture. Qualifications and Skills Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent). Minimum 4–5 years’ experience in a veterinary nursing role. Leadership or team management experience is desirable. Strong communication skills and a compassionate, client-focused approach. Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively. Confidence in mentoring and supporting colleagues. What We Offer A flexible roster that supports work–life balance. Rostered 1-hour lunch breaks. A kind and loyal client base. Above award wages, based on experience. High quality equipment (all upgraded in the past 4 years). Ongoing training and CPD opportunities — including attending the Tasmanian AVA conference as a team. A supportive, respectful team culture. Access to EAP and a management team that genuinely cares about staff wellbeing. Full time, part time and casual hours all considered for the right fit. About You You are passionate about building long-lasting connections with pets and their families. You are kind, honest, and accountable. You have great attention to detail and can see the ‘big picture’ and plan the day accordingly. You thrive in a collaborative team environment. You enjoy mentoring others and contributing to a positive workplace. You value feedback and open communication. You treat clients, patients, and colleagues with kindness and respect. How to Apply If this sounds like the role you’ve been waiting for, we’d love to hear from you Please send your resume and cover letter to Eloise at **************@mayfairvetclinic.com.au, outlining your experience and why you would be a great fit for our team.Applications close Monday 8th December 2025.
