Advanced Trainee – NETS (Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network) Join NSW Health as an Advanced Trainee with the Newborn & Paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS). NETS is a statewide, 24‑hour service providing expert clinical advice, emergency treatment, stabilisation and inter‑hospital transport for very sick or injured babies and children up to 16 years of age. Employment Details Employment Type : Temporary Remuneration : Public Hospital Medical Officers (State) Award Hours per Week : 38 Requisition ID : CAM26064 Clinical Year : 2026 (commencing 02 February 2026 – 31 January 2027) Responsibilities The Advanced Trainee is responsible for delivering the highest quality care to paediatric patients and their families. Key duties include: Clinical assessment, treatment and procedural skills for paediatric patients, including cannulation, high‑level airway management, chest tube thoracostomy and central line placement. Providing expert clinical advice and coordination in emergency situations, including inter‑hospital transport via road, rotary and fixed‑wing aircraft. Acting as a clinical resource and contributing to continuing education for peers. Maintaining patient care standards through individualised, continuously reviewed care plans. Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Minimum 5 years post‑graduate clinical experience, preferably in paediatrics, neonatology, anaesthetics, paediatric intensive care or paediatric emergency medicine. Minimum 12 months critical care experience, including 6 months in paediatric or neonatal intensive care or retrieval services. Demonstrated competency to independently manage deteriorating or seriously unwell paediatric patients. Competent in advanced airway skills; detail neonatal and paediatric intubation experience. Ability to work in the NETS operational environment and complete required fitness tests, including vehicle, rotary wing and fixed wing training. Superior verbal and written communication skills.
