The Opportunity As VP of Engineering, you’ll lead Nexl’s global engineering function building, scaling, and inspiring a high‑performing team that delivers exceptional products at pace. Based in Sydney, you’ll work closely with our CEO, Director of Product, and other leaders to shape our technology vision, scale our architecture, and execute against our ambitious product roadmap. This is a role for a technical leader who can operate at both the strategic and hands‑on levels — setting direction, building capability, and ensuring we deliver quality, scalable software that drives customer impact. Frontend: React & TypeScriptBackend: Ruby on Rails with GraphQL, and Python with WebSockets & Protobuf What You’ll Own & Do Plan and execute detailed manual exploratory testing across web‑based features Write clear and concise test plans, test cases, and supporting documentation Identify, report, and track bugs, ensuring reports are actionable and high‑quality Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to provide early QA feedback Prioritise and manage multiple testing tasks to keep projects on track Contribute ideas to improve how we test and build faster, better QA workflows What We’re Looking For Proven senior engineering leadership experience in high‑growth B2B SaaS companies. Strong technical background in modern web application architecture, ideally with experience in our tech stack or similar. Experience leading distributed or remote‑first engineering teams at scale. Track record of delivering complex products to market at speed, balancing quality and velocity. Ability to set clear technical direction, while empowering teams to own their work. Strong background in hiring, coaching, and retaining high‑performing engineering talent. Skilled at collaborating cross‑functionally and communicating with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Experience with agile methodologies, continuous delivery, and test‑driven development. Commercially minded, with an understanding of how engineering decisions impact customers, revenue, and growth. Bonus: Experience working in legaltech, professional services, or industries with high standards for security and compliance.
