Network Engineer – Fortinet / Azure | Federal Government Project | Canberra | 6‑Month Contract Laneway Talent is working with a federal government department to find an experienced Network Engineer for a major network project based in Canberra. This is an initial 6‑month contract with one possible extension – ideal for someone who thrives in high‑impact project environments and enjoys solving complex network challenges. You’ll be the trusted escalation point for technical issues, providing expert guidance across Fortinet SD‑WAN, FortiGate, Azure NVA, FortiClient, FortiSASE, and FortiSandbox environments. This role suits someone with deep network knowledge, strong troubleshooting ability, and a proactive approach to performance and reliability. You’ll be instrumental in maintaining uptime, minimising disruption, and supporting a successful project rollout. What you’ll bring Proven experience in a secure, enterprise‑scale ICT environment Expertise across FortiGate Firewalls, Fortinet SD‑WAN, FortiClient, FortiSASE, and FortiSandbox Strong communication skills – able to explain complex network issues clearly to non‑technical stakeholders Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation skills Ability to map data movements across network zones and cross‑domain environments Proficiency in Microsoft Visio for producing detailed network diagrams Security Requirements To be eligible for this role, you must be an Australian citizen and able to obtain Baseline Security Clearance .
