Northern Health is seeking applications from motivated Medical Laboratory Assistants to join the Northern Pathology team at Northern Health, Epping in a Full-Time Capacity. Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub‑acute, mental health, specialist, community and home‑based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north. Services are provided through our five main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg. About the Role The role is involved in the provision of accurate and timely Biochemistry results at Northern Pathology Victoria (NPV) for optimised patient outcomes. All tasks are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the values, quality objectives, performance goals, delegations, policies, procedures and operations of NPV and in line with the Northern Health “Code of Conduct”. Major duties and/or responsibilities are outlined in the scope of the position description, including inventory management and laboratory organisation. The incumbent may be required to perform other job‑related duties as delegated by the Principal and Senior Scientists. Previous experience in a diagnostic Biochemistry laboratory is highly desirable. Responsibilities Perform a wide range of diagnostic Biochemistry tests using automated and manual methods. Perform duties in accordance with documented methods, work instructions and standard operating procedures. Participate in a seven‑day rotating roster, including public holidays, as operationally required. What You’ll Need Certificate or Diploma of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory) qualification, or equivalent. Understanding of the importance of Pathology’s role in providing outstanding patient care. Team‑focused, self‑motivated and reliable, with attention to detail. Proficiency in using Laboratory Information System software, particular Ultra. Capability to perform laboratory investigations, instrument operation and maintenance. Understanding of quality management systems, including the principles of quality control and assurance. Awareness of NPAAC, NATA and ISO standards and guidelines.
