Associate Recruitment Consultant | Contracts & Procurement, Finance & Investment, & Project Controls | Power Transmission & Distribution | Renewable… Overview: We are seeking an experienced Energy Market Modelling professional to join a leading Energy Markets & Advisory team, operating across Australia with flexible hybrid working. This role will be responsible for delivering complex energy market modelling assignments, guiding clients through investment, strategy, and policy decisions across the National Electricity Market (NEM) and wider energy transition. The position requires strong technical modelling capability, consulting experience, and the ability to lead both internal teams and external client engagements. You will work closely with developers, utilities, regulators, and investors to deliver high-impact modelling and advisory projects. Responsibilities Lead and manage end-to-end energy market modelling projects, focusing on NEM operations, market design, transmission planning, and renewable integration. Develop, calibrate, and interpret wholesale electricity market models using tools such as PLEXOS, Aurora, or PROPHET. Produce modelling outputs, insights, and reports that inform investment decisions, policy reform, and commercial strategy. Coordinate cross-functional advisory teams to ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely project delivery. Manage client relationships as the key point of contact across major advisory engagements. Support business development, including proposal development, scoping, and thought‑leadership activities. Mentor and supervise junior consultants, maintaining high analytical and consulting standards. Contribute to broader energy strategy and regulatory advisory work where modelling insights are required. Required Experience Proven hands‑on experience in energy market modelling within the NEM (or similar international power markets). Strong understanding of wholesale electricity market dynamics, renewable integration, and system planning principles. 6–12 years’ total experience, including at least 2–3 years in consulting, advisory, or a market‑focused analytical role. Demonstrated ability to lead modelling projects and manage client stakeholders. Experience overseeing small teams and ensuring quality control of modelling deliverables. Background in energy economics, engineering, mathematics, data science, or a similar analytical discipline. Qualifications Degree in Engineering, Economics, Data/Computer Science, Energy Systems, or a related field (preferred but not essential). Experience with PLEXOS, Aurora, PROPHET, or equivalent modelling platforms is strongly preferred.
