Habitat for Humanity Australia – Sydney NSW Work will be undertaken to improve the living conditions of the families who benefit from crisis accommodation. Habitat partners with housing providers who deliver a welcoming place for women and children who are escaping domestic violence. Crisis accommodations are a safe and welcoming place when a woman decides to leave her partner. As a volunteer you will help transform the accommodation to make it a welcoming and respectful place for newcomers. Volunteers have been able to paint the premises and refresh spaces. Staff have mentioned that women have walked in and burst into tears; they start feeling validated and seen for the first time in a while. Category Community Services Commitment One off – a few hours Type of Work Garden Maintenance Sport & Physical Activity Trades & Maintenance Time Required Activity days for volunteers are held each week.
