The opportunity Lead ASIO's finance and pay systems support function by bridging the gap between finance, payroll and IT, improving process and functionality, safeguarding access control and supporting the end-user experience. Director, Digital Enablement and Improvement, is accountable for leading, developing and maintaining solutions and the team responsible for ASIO's finance and pay systems. You will work in a highly collegiate manner with IT counterparts to sustain and govern the end-to-end solution management including the cultivation of a positive vendor relationship. You will possess strong leadership skills and a broad knowledge of legislative and compliance frameworks for finance, payroll and travel-related subject matter, enabling you to exercise a considerable degree of independence in the role. A finance or payroll systems background will be considered an advantage, but we also welcome applicants with transferable skills and a strong foundation in technical skills. You will be self-driven, eager to learn, and committed to delivering high-quality results. A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies which have the same or similar requirements to this position. This merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months. Role responsibilities Developing and executing a forward work program to sustain, govern and enhance the finance and payroll systems including data and reporting management. Partnering with internal stakeholders to manage enhancement work program and in-solution change management that will deliver cost savings, process improvements or enhanced outcomes for ASIO. Engaging with, and leading, cross-functional user groups and senior suppliers to uplift core solution documentation, suite of user guides and knowledge articles for self-service. Leading the annual year-end system closure and coordination of resources to meet the financial reporting, payroll processing and external reporting timeframes and requirements. Co-developing annual key performance indicators and benchmarks related branch budgets and resource allocations. Co-developing workforce plans, capability and functional requirements that support the branch's key service offering and business model. Ensuring end-user expectations, concerns and experiences are addressed in the respective solutions including representation on project boards and leading any business requirements gathering with the Program Management Office. Analysing the market to provide high-quality information on current and future trends and innovations. Contributing to cultural change in the delivery of leading practice finance and payroll services. Analysing, advising, designing and implementing mitigation strategies for identified risks associated with privileged user access and monitoring of account provisioning. Providing advice and guidance to others and contributing to finance and pay systems strategies, procedures and policy. Leading teams and collaborating with stakeholders to resolve system-related issues and develop enterprise-wide communication artefacts and guidance. Reviewing and quality control the work undertaken by others and support management assurance and audit activities. Demonstrated ability to maintain a strong client focus, build rapport and adapt to differing client requirements. Demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge of shared service arrangements, automation and process improvement; and Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of systems, finance and payroll policy and procedure, including an understanding of the roles and functions of systems analysts, payroll and finance subject matter resources. While not essential, the following experience is desirable: Experience within finance and payroll solutions. Demonstrated experience in improving operational maturity of finance and payroll functions. Demonstrated business acumen, budgetary, organisational, analytical, financial, communication and negotiation skills.
