About the Role You will be joining our Wagerup Refinery as a Laboratory Analyst, working 12-hour shifts on a 5-panel roster that covers both days and nights. This is a part-time role, so you will work 2 days on one shift and then 2 nights on the next. Reporting directly to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for completing routine and non-routine laboratory analyses as determined by the work schedule. You will initiate repeat sampling and analysis when unusual results occur or when there are potential issues with sample integrity. You are expected to take pride in performing your role to a high standard while maintaining a strong focus on safety. You will need to think analytically and enter data accurately into information systems, verifying results and conducting comparisons with historical performance trends and reviews. Responsibilities Assisting in troubleshooting refinery process issues and recording corrective actions and helping to rectify out-of-control situations Following detailed standards and methods required to maintain the laboratory’s ISO accreditation (under direction) Assisting in the development, continuous improvement, and maintenance of laboratory standard operations Calibrating laboratory equipment as required for analytical work Completing operational maintenance and basic troubleshooting on laboratory equipmentIdentifying opportunities to improve safety systems and work practices in both the laboratory and refinery What’s on offer Attractive remuneration and variable bonus plan. Salary packaging for a novated car lease, employee share plan and superannuation options What you can bring to the role Cert IV in Laboratory Practices is essential Knowledge & Training in Bayer Process is preferred but not essential Highly developed communication skills A proven understanding of the impact of the laboratory analysis results on the operations of the refinery.
