About the Role – Educational Leader & Preschool Room Leader In this role, you will lead your own preschool room while supporting the wider team to deliver high-quality programs and uphold best practices. Key Responsibilities Educational Leadership & Team Development Foster a positive, inclusive, and reflective team culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and professional growth. Lead by example , modelling high standards of teaching, professionalism, and teamwork. Mentor, guide, and support educators to ensure consistent, high-quality practice across the service. Develop and implement staff training and mentoring plans , providing regular feedback and coaching to build team capability and confidence. Facilitate professional learning and reflection sessions , and contribute actively to team meetings, professional development, and the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) . Curriculum Leadership & Program Delivery Develop and deliver an engaging, child-led curriculum aligned with the EYLF and NQS . Lead intentional teaching practices and promote critical reflection within the team. Plan for school readiness and transition , fostering children’s confidence and independence. Document children’s learning journeys thoughtfully , highlighting their strengths, ideas, and progress. Relationships with Children, Families & Community Build trusting, respectful relationships that nurture each child’s wellbeing and belonging. Partner with families through open, two-way communication , celebrating milestones and progress. Host family information nights, orientations, and community events to share our educational vision. Create a welcoming, inclusive environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure children’s safety, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times. Maintain high standards of health, hygiene, and supervision , including allergy and medical management. Uphold all regulatory, ethical, and professional standards expected of an Early Childhood Teacher under the Education and Care Services National Regulations . About You Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) in Early Childhood Education and Care. For Diploma-qualified candidates, room leader experience specifically is required as part of the 3+ years of leadership experience in ECEC. 2+ year’s experience as an Educational Leader or a Room Leader or in a similar leadership role. Strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) , National Quality Standard (NQS) , and child development principles. Passionate about leadership, mentoring , and making a meaningful difference in children’s lives. Proven ability to mentor and motivate teams , develop training plans , and provide constructive feedback. Confident in leading by example and engaging with families through events and open communication. Reliable, professional, and collaborative — a true team player who values respect and reflection. Excellent communicator with warmth, clarity, and confidence in building relationships with children, families, and colleagues. Current Working With Children Check , Child Protection , First Aid , CPR , Asthma & Anaphylaxis training.
