This role has been designed as âHybridâ with an expectation that you will work on average 2-3 days per week from an HPE office.

The Network SME with Systems Admin skills will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our network infrastructure while also performing critical systems administration duties. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting, coupled with a strong background in systems administration, including server management, virtualization, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Design and Implementation:
    • Design, implement, and manage complex network solutions.
    • Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams and documentation.
    • Ensure network scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Network Management:
    • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues.
    • Implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
    • Manage firewalls, VPNs, routers, and switches.
  • Systems Administration (Above intermediate skills):
    • Manage and maintain server infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers.
    • Perform regular system updates, backups, and maintenance.
    • Ensure system security and integrity through regular audits and updates.
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
    • Provide advanced technical support for network and system-related issues.
    • Assist in the diagnosis and resolution of hardware, software, and other network and system-related problems.
    • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve issues.
  • Documentation and Training:
    • Create and maintain detailed documentation of network configurations and changes.
    • Develop and deliver training for IT staff on network and system best practices.
  • Project Management (Above intermediate skills):
    • Lead and manage network and system-related projects.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Masterâs degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network design, implementation, and management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration.
  • Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+, and Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate are highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and software.
  • Proficiency in managing firewalls, VPNs, routers, and switches.
  • Experience with server virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar.
  • Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, etc.) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills but not mandatory: 

  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and frameworks.
