The role you will play:

The Engineering Manager will be a part of our senior site leadership team and is responsible for ensuring the targets for engineering requirements are met within agreed timeframes. Driving the team safety, quality, and performance. Timely execution of new products, sustaining engineering, tenders and project designs, including manufacturing drawings and specifications as per project schedule and customer requirements. The engineering team is a key function involved in PPI development and implementation of lean processes through engineering processes, but also for the wider business as a key partner.

You will lead a diverse, dynamic, and proud team of engineers and drafters who collaborate with customers to develop solutions for their process facilities in the Minerals, Cement, and Coal Industries. Our products bring greater value to our customers by operating more efficiently with real-time monitoring, sampling, and control of processes.

Key Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Own and drive a culture of “Safety First” and “Right First Time, On Time” and maintain a high level of safety awareness among associates, and implement 5S principles.

  • Provide engineering support to the global minerals and PGNAA sales teams and provide product documentation and drawings in a timely manner to meet customer project documentation VDDR and MDR requirements.

  • Ensure Standard Work is developed and maintained for all engineering work cells. And ensure you embrace and use Leader Standard Work (LSW) as a tool for your own daily management.

  • Ensure all engineering processes and procedures are documented, audited, and followed and be able to demonstrate continuous improvement and corrective action processes are used, to meet the requirements for maintaining certification of the company’s ISO 9001 “Management System”.

  • Ensure engineering staff follow required or statutory certification or licensing requirements for the work they carry out and all designs align with relevant safety, environmental, and design standards or regulations.

  • Meet customer satisfaction goals for on-time delivery as well as ongoing quality and reliability standards, working closely with Supply Chain, Customer Service, Engineering, Quality and Project Management functions.

  • Develop a successful team by motivating and mentoring team members, ensuring they take accountability and facilitate ongoing personal development for themselves and their teams.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering with a minimum of 5 years leadership experience. Professional membership of an engineering association would be ideal.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a diverse team for engineered capital equipment or industrial product with alignment to industry standard modelling and documentation management processes.

  • Capability to ensure compliance to engineering standards of design and safety.

  • Advanced knowledge of electromechanical assemblies, instruments, or devices would be beneficial.

  • Experience in “New Product Introduction Staged Gate Process” practices.

  • Excellent verbal, written and PC skills and experienced with the newest technology and software for design drafting. Experience with 3D CAD and SolidWorks drafting software.

  • Experience in ISO 9001 Quality Management System principles and application to engineering design.

  • High level verbal and written communications skills, coupled with astute problem-solving nature.

  • Well developed interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of the mining industry and the need for specialised high-value capital equipment and associated documentation requirements. Sound experience in industrial design engineering and understanding of flow and sample handling systems is beneficial.
