Senior Information Management Officer

  • Develop, communicate and implement enterprise-level IM planning activities and initiatives, including assisting in the development of strategic and operational plans (SFIA: ITSP 4)
  • Consult and participate in the development, maintenance and implementation of information management schema, policies and procedures that contribute to business outcomes for the department whilst aligning with the broader Whole-of-Government strategic direction. (SFIA: METL 4)
  • Develop, maintain and foster a high-level of client focus and a commitment to quality customer service which you will demonstrate by your group facilitation, negotiation and strong communication skills. You will bring these to solving IM problems, while leading and working with communities of practice as our department moves to adopt modern, digital first IM practices. (SFIA: CNSL 4)
  • Manage and coordinate initiatives within the department, ensuring they support IM maturity uplift objectives. (SFIA: PRMG 5)

Technical skills, abilities and cultural capability:

  • Detailed knowledge of current and emerging Information Management trends, standards and practices including content service platforms, use of Microsoft and collaboration tools and managing their impact on IM.
  • Ability to provide strategic advice, oral and written, to senior officers on contemporary information management and technology issues, and their potential to impact the department's goals.
  • Analyses and advises management of the impact of Whole-of-Government IM and ICT strategies, plans, policies, projects, programs and methodologies.
  • Participate collaboratively in a small team, contributing to a work environment characterised by initiative, innovation and equity and positively support decision-making to ensure the Department is increasingly capable of achieving Government objectives.
  • Negotiates or exchanges ideas, information and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions or solutions.
  • Works independently and follows through on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated change management and facilitation skills to improve business engagement and adoption of contemporary IM practices.
  • Contributes to workplace equity, diversity, respect and inclusion that enriches our culture of respect and inclusion.
  • Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to the position as required.
