Institute for Marketing and Customer Analytics

You are interested in topics at the intersection between quantitative marketing, management science, and information systems? You want to kick start your academic career at one of the largest and ambitious marketing departments in Europe?

The
Institute for Marketing and Customer Analytics is looking for support at the Assistant Professor level (40 hours per week) starting as soon as possible.

This position opens doors to an academic career for a self-motivated, highly active, and productive researcher, who wants to make a significant contribution in the Institute's research areas.


What to expect:

The holder of the tenure track position is expected to
- complement and strengthen the existing research of the Institute for Marketing and Customer Analytics (group Prof. Reutterer)
- develop a strong international reputation in research by publishing in top tier outlets in line with the Institute's research program and the Department's list of leading marketing journals
- participate actively in international conferences, present and discuss research with scholars around the world
- teach four courses per year (total of 90 contact hours per year) in WU's Marketing Master program as well as in other programs offered by the Institute, such as the Bachelor specialization in Digital Marketing
- supervise Bachelor and Master theses; co-supervise PhD students
- support external funding and third mission activities
- taking over responsibilities in team-building and leadership at the Institute

What you have to offer:

  • By the start of the position, the successful applicant:
  • has a solid academic qualification in marketing or a related field (completed PhD, doctorate, or close to finish) with a profound knowledge and proven skills in quantitative research methods (i.e., marketing science, statistics, operations research, machine learning or econometrics)
- must either have completed the PhD or doctoral program outside of Austria or must have completed at least one year of documented academic work experience as a post-doctoral researcher outside of Austria
- possesses a proven interest in the research and teaching areas of Marketing and Customer Analytics (particularly, a proven interest in integrating previous work and experience with the Institute's current research projects)
- should be on her or his way to establish an international reputation as a researcher, is well connected in the international academic marketing community, and have a clear research agenda that aligns with the Institutes research topics
- possesses strong communication skills in English, which allows to communicate effectively with academic as well as with non-academic stakeholders such as practitioners and policy makers
- has published at least one paper in a high-quality marketing outlet (i.e., journals listed in the UT Dallas journal list)
- has acquired or significantly contributed to acquiring third-party funds
- has contributed to the third mission (e.g., through business relationships, media work) of his/her institution(s)
- possesses the ability to work independently, while also being a good team player We look for enthusiastic, curious team players, who are passionate about marketing and customer analytics and research. You show initiative, are willing to take on responsibility, and have good self-organization skills.

German language skills are not required but a plus. Non-German speaking applicants are expected to acquire knowledge of workable German.
