Within the IfGR your future position is assigned to the Urban Studies Working Group.
The Group researches the complex interactions of social, ecological and technical processes, with emphasis on how such impact the urban system.
The Group engages in conceptual, theoretical, and empirical work on urban sustainability transformations and city-specific challenges with the overall objective of contributing to urban sustainability transformations, mainly in Europe and Latin America.
Accordingly, we encourage you to submit an intriguing research proposal that illustrates your area of interest, and specifically, how such links to urban sustainability transformations.
Moreover, in this proposal you should discuss the incorporation of novel research methods which support the development and innovation of living lab-based research.
Topics can include a range of foci, from mobility and housing, to food security and climate adaptation, as the key is that such relate to urban sustainability transformations.
Your future tasks:
Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You contribute to the interdisciplinary
- You contribute to the development of a knowledge database (quant./qual.) within the USLL
- You acquire and manage thirdparty research projects
- You publish and present in international settings, including outreach activities with (non)academic stakeholders, ideally in living lab settings
- You teach courses independently, as defined by the University of Vienna's collective agreement
- You supervise students and develop innovative curriculums on emerging topics that incorporate novel pedagogical methods
- You undertake administrative responsibilities
- You participate in science management, including third mission activities, e.g. the organization of workshops, conferences, symposiums etc. with (non)academic stakeholders
- You promote inter
This is part of your personality:
- Outstanding dissertation
- Proven competence in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, ideally including living lab approaches
- Proven experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Proven ability to publish in international journals as well as sciencetopublic outlets including other media (e.g. MOOCs, podcasts etc.)
- Proven teaching experience with excellent track record and skills with regards to both undergraduate and graduate curricula
- Willingness to contribute to the development of innovative teaching formats and research management
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, working knowledge of German is required or to be acquired, Spanish is a strong asset
- Team player and high social/communicative skills
- Experience in successful external fundraising and project management is a significant advantage
- Research or study experiences abroad is a strong asset
- Affinity to Latin America would be highly welcome
