Competence Unit "Digital Resilient Cities", part of the

Center for Energy located in

internship.

The Competence Unit "Digital Resilient Cities" supports cities and their stakeholders in the cross-sectoral transformation process, combining expertise in climate, energy, mobility, and urban planning. With the aim of creating climate-neutral, competitive, and sustainable living spaces, we develop and integrate state-of-the-art evidence-based analysis and simulation tools for systemic urban transformation, as well as for the concrete planning and management of neighbourhood and building solutions.

FEMTECH INTERNSHIP IN THE FIELD OF "DIGITAL RESILIENT CITIES"

CENTER FOR ENERGY

  • You will work with our multidisciplinary team on
    innovative and smart solutions for the development of sustainable and livable cities of the future.
  • You will
    familiarize yourself
    with the latest digital analysis and planning tools in the fields of climateresilient urban development, the transformation of energy and mobility systems, circular economy, and digital processes in building and neighborhood development.
  • Based on your academic focus and expertise, you will actively contribute to our ongoing projects in one of the research fields
    :Urban Development and Mobility Transformation, Climate-Resilient Pathways, or Decarbonisation and Circularity in Built Environments.
  • You will
    assist us
    in the development and implementation of national and international projects, gaining exciting insights into our technological environment.
  • With the
    City Intelligence Lab we have succeeded establishing an innovative digital urban planning lab where, depending on your profile, you could be involved in the implementation of planning projects or in the further development of the technical framework and its modules.
  • You will
    become familiar with the work environment and
    evidencebased approach in the field of applied research.
  • You will have the opportunity to
    gain (first) practical experience in one of Austria's leading research and technology organisations and
    exchange ideas with our researchers on the latest technological developments.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

  • Ongoing studies at an Austrian university with focus on climate modeling, meteorology, architecture, transportation planning, software engineering, computer science & data science, building science, urban energy systems, geoinformatics, urban/spatial planning, smart cities, circular economy, water management, etc.
  • You are enrolled in the +4 semester
  • Good programming skills in Python or other programming languages are advantageous
  • Good knowledge of web technologies and databases with a focus on building science is advantageous
  • Good verbal and written English skills

What to expect:

Duration of the internship: ideally 6 months (at least 4 months)
-
Start-date: ideally starting with March 2024 (depending on the Start oft he FEMtech Internship Programme However, here is some flexibility concerning the start-date. A remuneration of at least EUR 1.400,
- gross per month for 38.5 hours per week. In addition to our company benefits, we offer flexible working conditions and work experience in a highly innovative environment.
