Internship in the field of "Acoustics and Noise Abatement" (incl. the option for a Bachelor's / Master's Thesis)

  • Center for Low-Emission Transport
  • Noise abatement in the field of traffic acoustics is of vital importance to reduce noise emissions from transport systems (e.g., major roads or railways).
  • In our Acoustics team, we perform applied research and develop custom acoustic measurement systems and methods to investigate the performance of noise abatement measures (e.g., sustainable noise barriers and lownoise road surfaces).
  • As part of our multidisciplinary research team, you will work with our experts in the field.

  • Your tasks comprise planning, design, and implementation of acoustic measurements, and performing data analyses aiming at insights into the generation and abatement of traffic noise.
  • You will develop your practical skills in using the latest technologies and methods.
  • You will gain practical experience with one of the leading research companies in Austria.
  • You support us in our national and international projects and get exciting insights into our technological environment.
  • You will have not only the opportunity to discuss your work experiences and results with experienced scientific peers, but also to connect with other bachelor's, master's, or PhD students.
Your qualifications as an

Ingenious Partner:

  • You study in the field of physics, electrical engineering and audio engineering, civil or mechanical engineering
  • You are enrolled in the +4 academic semester at an Austrian or international university
  • Basic programming capabilities in Python, MATLAB / Octave or R, interest in participating in acoustic measurements (indoors and outdoors) as well as a car driving license are beneficial
  • You have a high level of commitment and team spirit
  • You have good knowledge of English and/or German in word and writing

What to expect:

Duration of the internship: between 2 and 6 months

  • A remuneration of at least EUR 1.168;
- gross per month for 38.5 hours per week. In addition to our company benefits, we offer flexible working conditions and work experience in a highly innovative environment.

  • As a research institution, we are familiar with the supervision and implementation of final theses. In case you would like to write your
    bachelor's or master's thesis during this internship, we will be happy to assist you, assuming that this topic can be agreed with your university's supervisor.
