The University of Vienna seeks to fill the positions of university assistants (prae doc) in the following research groups:

Scientific Computing:

  • 1 University assistant (prae doc) at the Research Group Scientific Computing under the supervision of Prof. Siegfried Benkner

Theory and Application of Algorithms:

  • 1 University assistant (prae doc) at the Research Group Theory and Application of Algorithms under the supervision of Prof. Kathrin Hanauer

Visualization and Data Analysis:

  • 1 University assistant (prae doc) at the Research Group Visualization and Data Analysis under the supervision of Prof. Torsten Möller

Duration of employment:


The announcement is made for 3 years, whereby the employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 3 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.

In case of probation and appropriate work progress an extension to 4 years is possible.

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week

Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: -48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Participation in research, teaching, and administration:

  • Participation in research projects / research studies
  • Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations
  • Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
  • Supervision of students
  • Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
  • Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration

Profile:

  • Master in Computer Science (or equivalent qualification, with a strong focus on Computer Science) with excellent marks
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
  • Strong motivation to work in a team environment
  • Strong motivation to publish at toprefereed conferences/journals
  • Comprehensive IT user skills

Desirable qualifications are:

  • Teaching experience / experience of working with elearning
  • Knowledge of university processes and structures
  • Experience abroad
  • Basic experience in research methods and academic writing
