Your future responsibilities:

In this PhD position, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Develop a new interconnects & packaging concept for GaN devices to minimize parasitic loop-inductances.
  • SiP & SiM integration for benchmark efficiency and power density.
  • Microfabrication of interconnects for GaN devices.
  • Characterization of power module parasitics both experimentally and theoretically using novel high frequency characterization methods.
  • Multiphysics simulation of packaged GaN devices.
  • Scientific publication and dissemination of your findings at relevant conferences & journals.

Your profile:

  • Master's degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering / Materials or Physics (or similar / equivalent).
  • Good knowledge of power electronics (power devices, topologies)
  • Experience with electronics laboratory equipment
  • Experience with multiphysics simulation & FEM tools
  • Experience with cleanroom environments (thin film deposition, SEM,..)
  • Basic knowledge of microelectronics packaging and reliability analsis
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English, knowledge of German is a plus
