This is a great growth opportunity to drive change in a successful company who are starting their data transformation journey.

Our highly respected client is seeking a Senior hands-on technical Head of Data with strong leadership skills and with a commercial and strategy mindset to uplift their technology and create a best practice culture.

This impactful Head of Data Engineering must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have full Australian working rights - Australian Citizenship, Permanent Resident or NZ Citizenship.
  • 8-15+ years’ of E2E hands-on experience in a Technical Data Engineering role and ideally in a Lead or Principal Data Engineering or Engineering Manager role for the last 1-2 years.
  • Excellent/perfect communication skills and experience leading projects from end-to-end, introducing best practices (such as standards, measurement, some ops) and being great at influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Experience building out foundations, introducing best practices in the engineering team.
  • Solid experience contributing to strategic direction and operational excellence, driving and uplifting tech innovation.
  • Strong hands-on technical delivery experience, ideally in greenfield projects/environments.
  • Significant leadership skills, responsible for leading and growing a team of 2-5 data engineers.
  • Significant commercial experience working in the financial and/or banking sectors.
  • The background should ideally include some combination of; Any Fintech / Banking AND some Scale-up / Start-up or otherwise in a consulting.
  • Confident in using modern data stack; AWS, Snowflake, Airflow, DBT, Kafka, Python & SQL.
