Following a recent announcement by the Australian Government to investigate the acquisition of UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters from the US Government, Lockheed Martin Australia is looking to establish a core team of experienced military Rotary Wing professionals to support the potential procurement and sustainment activities. The modern-day, 3rd Generation UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter is the world’s leading multi-role battlefield and special operations helicopter with a proven legacy of exceptional capability and reliability. We are pleased to invite applications for the position of Software Assurance SME to join our UH-60M Black Hawk team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working in collaboration with the System Safety Program Manager - UH-60M, the Software Assurance SME will:
- Identify and review Software Assurance Requirements associated with proposed changes as part of Software System Requirements Hazard Analysis (SRHA).
- Provide SME input to Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) as and when required, including the provision of advice associated with any potential for Systematic Common Mode Failures.
- Provide SME input to Sub-System Hazard Analysis (SSHA) and System Hazard Analysis (SHA) activities as and when required.
- Evaluate the System Software validation and verification risk mitigation measures, and management of associated risks in support of test events.
- Evaluate the of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Change Notices (CNs), Deficiency Reports, Mishaps, and Requests for Deviations and Waivers from a Software Assurance perspective.
- Define tests and demonstrations, or in using other verification methods on safety significant software functionality to verify compliance with safety requirements.
- Oversee and ensure that all Software Assurance activities are aligned with the requirements of the Airworthiness Design Requirements Manual, Section 2, Chapters 2 & 3 ‘System Safety’ & Aviation Software’ respectively.
- Guide the management of all software load control and criticality lists in-line with ‘Defence Aviation Safety Program Manual, Volume 2: Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR): DASR 21 – Aircraft
- Design, Production and Certification: Section A: Technical Requirements: SUBPART G: Military Production Organisation Approval: 21.A.165 – Obligations of the holder’.
- Ensure all Software Assurance Continuing Airworthiness
- Management Obligations (CAMO) obligations as defined by the ‘Defence Aviation Safety Program Manual, Volume 2: Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR): DASR M – Continuing Airworthiness Management: Section A: SUBPART B: Accountability: M.A.201 – Responsibilities’.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant evidence of formally acquired knowledge and experience in the application of Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) techniques in support of the derivation of Software Assurance Requirements.
- Significant evidence of formally acquired knowledge and experience in the application of recognised industry standards that support software safety assurance e.g. RTCA DO-178C and IEC 61508. Including understanding of varying levels of assurance required for varying levels of Software Criticality covering: • Levels of Requisite Planning
- Application of Development Processes
- Software Requirements Validation & Verification
- Levels of Testing
- Configuration Management • Software Quality Assurance
- Software Certification.
- Exposure to Defence Aviation System Safety Programs / Software Development Programs.
About You:
The Software Assurance SME provides the UH-60M System Safety Program Manager with subject matter advice (SME) on submitted Software Assurance artefacts, thus discharging their associated obligations as a Software Assurance Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE), and as a member a defined Military Type Certificate Holder (MTCH).
