Teaching - Tertiary (Education & Training)

UNSW College is a wholly owned subsidiary of The University of New South Wales (UNSW). UNSW College is looking for competent, innovative Senior Education Professionals (Teacher/Educator) to join our dynamic UNSW College Design & Arts Team

We have 2 vacancies available: One Senior Teacher Arts and one Senior Teacher Design.

The successful candidates will have a relevant academic qualification and minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching the relevant courses, excellent oral and written communication skills including high level cross-cultural communication skills, and well-developed interpersonal skills, time management skills and a demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor a teaching team.

What will you do? 

The roles involves the teaching of the UNSW College Foundation Studies Program.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Employ a mix of high impact teaching strategies in lectures, tutorials and workshops, in Foundation Studies and/or Diploma programs, that ensure student engagement and demonstrated acquisition of the course learning outcomes.
  • Coordinate Foundation Studies Arts courses. This includes but is not limited to: teacher coordination and mentoring; curriculum and examination development; teaching lectures, tutorials/workshops and consultations. 
  • Develop, oversee, and maintain a range of appropriate formative and summative assessments such as assignments, reflective exercises, project work, quizzes, interviews, and high-stakes examinations, which explicitly address the program and course learning outcomes.
  • Develop, review, improve, and maintain curricula including digital learning assets, ensuring they incorporate innovations in teaching and learning, changes in current disciplines practices, industry trends, and student, expert and QARC (Quality Assurance Review Consultant) feedback.

The successful applicant will have but not limited to:

  • A relevant academic qualification and minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching foundational courses,
  • Demonstrated understanding of teaching foundational concepts and skills including modelling and applying these, checking the students’ understanding and being prepared to find effective ways to engage the students over lengthy programs,
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students of diverse learning and cultural backgrounds, as well as students of varied capability,
  • Experience in, and commitment to technology-enabled learning and teaching.
