Network Design and Integration works to deliver transport priorities through the development, delivery and maintenance of an integrated pipeline of projects supporting the Major Transport Infrastructure Program, plan Victoria’s rail network, supports Road Safety Victoria and Freight Victoria.

Road Safety Victoria is a Division in the Department of Transport and Planning, and is responsible for leading the Victorian Government to achieve zero road fatalities by 2050.

About the Role

This is a Fixed Term Full Time position until 30/04/2027.

The Senior Program Coordinator sits within the Road Safety Strategy and Investment Planning team under the Road Safety Strategy and Systems directorate in Road Safety Victoria. The Road Safety Strategy and Investment Planning team is responsible for developing the state’s road safety strategy and supplementary action plans and supporting the development and delivery of a pipeline of road safety programs through sound analysis and investment planning, business case development and program delivery oversight. 

The Senior Program Coordinator has a pivotal role in supporting motorcycling safety efforts in Victoria by coordinating a range of projects funded through the Victorian Motorcycle Safety Levy.

The Senior Program Coordinator will apply sound project management practices to support the effective planning, development and delivery of Motorcycle Safety Levy-funded road safety projects. The role requires an individual who will utilise their exceptional project and stakeholder management skills to ensure that projects are effectively planned and managed in line with key organisational and governance frameworks. The role works across the full spectrum of the project management lifecycle including project scoping, stakeholder and communication management, procurement, scheduling and resourcing, risk management, governance, budget management and financial reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to effectively negotiate and achieve shared outcomes.

The individual will lead the delivery of various motorcycling safety projects through collaborative efforts with stakeholders across DTP, the Road Safety Partnership and other key stakeholders. The successful candidate will cultivate strong stakeholder relationships to support decision-making and help achieve positive road safety outcomes for the community. The indivdual will apply sound project management principles and existing organisational frameworks to deliver projects in line with DTP requirements. The individual will prepare timely and high quality reports and provide authoritative advice on emerging and complex issues.

The role has effectively led and managed the delivery of complex projects and initiatives using project management techniques to ensure completion within scope, time, and budget. It has fostered strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, leading partnerships within the government to advance the Road Safety strategy, objectives, and targets. Additionally, it has developed and delivered high-quality, timely, clear, and concise program and budget reports, supporting their improvement based on business feedback and emerging issues. The role has also provided timely, high-quality, authoritative strategic, operational, and tactical advice to senior leaders and executives to support transport portfolio objectives and address emerging and complex issues.

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory

  • Experience in program and project management in the road safety, public sector policy or public health areas.
  • Strong communications and negotiation skills and the ability to present complex information in a digestible form.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong, productive partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Experience in research or policy development.
