As the Head of Buying at St Frock, your primary responsibility is to strategically develop and continuously refine the buying function to maximise revenue and profit in order to achieve significant growth.

Leading a dedicated product team, this role offers a great opportunity to showcase your expertise and vision that will ultimately result in curating product ranges that resonate deeply with our customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the executive leadership team to refine and execute the strategic vision of the company, ensuring alignment between the buying function and overarching business objectives. Actively participate in strategic discussions, providing insightful recommendations from a buying perspective, and contribute to the realisation of St Frock's mission to become our customers' favourite dress.
  • Develop and articulate an innovative and ambitious buying and product vision for St Frock, leveraging customer insights and market trends to not only effectively help manage P&L and optimise revenue, growth, and profitability but also to surprise and excite our Australian customers. This vision prioritises customer needs and desires while aligning with the larger creative vision of delivering exceptional products that resonate deeply with our audience.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the Buying team, effectively communicating the strategic direction and translating it into actionable plans and processes that drive transformative objectives. Encourage creativity and forward-thinking to push the boundaries of what's possible in the realm of fashion and ecommerce.
  • Collaborate closely with buying and planning teams to forecast, select, and develop product ranges that embody the larger creative vision of St Frock. Utilise keen product acumen and market trends to seize opportunities and deliver commercially viable ranges that exceed customer expectations.
  • Coach and mentor team members for continuous improvement, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Support skill development and succession planning to cultivate a high-performing team capable of driving the company's ambitious growth agenda.
  • Drive individual and team performance, fostering accountability and a results-driven mindset. Effectively manage performance issues when necessary, while empowering team members to take ownership of their roles and contribute to the company's success.
  • Champion product innovation by fostering a collaborative environment for idea generation and implementation. Encourage bold and creative thinking to drive breakthroughs in product development and customer experience.
  • Establish and maintain competitive pricing strategies, while nurturing strong partnerships with suppliers that align with St Frock's values and commitment to quality and innovation.
  • Oversee OTB and seasonal plans, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives and creative vision. Adapt and pivot as needed to capitalise on market opportunities and evolving customer preferences.
  • Coordinate product plans and campaigns with the Marketing Team, ensuring seamless integration of product offerings with marketing initiatives to drive engagement and sales.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to optimise efficiencies and address buying-related issues. Foster a culture of collaboration and communication to drive organisational alignment and shared success.
  • Partner with senior leadership to make informed product promotional and marketing decisions based on comprehensive sales performance analysis. Ensure alignment with the company's strategic objectives and creative vision.
  • Conduct inspiring product presentations for internal teams, ensuring alignment with seasonal product direction and fostering buy-in across the organisation. Communicate the larger creative vision and strategic objectives to inspire and motivate team members to deliver their best work.

Ideal Background...

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a Head of Buying or Senior Buyer role - ecommerce apparel preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, capable of effectively managing and inspiring teams to excel.
  • Product development and design experience.
  • Prior experience liaising with suppliers, particularly in China and Kipax.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of market trends and competitor activity with a strong understanding of socials and influence on customer activity.
  • System knowledge: Stylearcade, WMS/ ERP, Excel, Google docs/sheets, slack and G-suite.
  • Strong knowledge of retail maths and metrics.
  • Planning - understanding of planning and merchandising principles to optimise ROI.
  • Collaborative, solutions-focused communicator, fostering strong internal and external relationships through transparent communication.
  • Empathetic approach to understanding and addressing stakeholder needs.
  • Customer-centric mindset, striving to exceed expectations at every opportunity.
  • Adaptable and flexible, adept at navigating short lead times and evolving priorities.

  • In-depth knowledge of the product life cycle, adept at strategic product placement, promotion, and markdown decisions.
