The Opportunity
Based in Perth Western Australia, Schlam Payload Asia-Pacific makes mining equipment more productive. Our range of dump bodies and mining attachments are customised to deliver payload, maintenance, safety and fuel saving benefits for leading mining companies the world over. 

Our team of technical experts collaborate closely with our customers to address site-specific variables and challenges. Every mine site is different. That is why we design and engineer our products individually and cater our services to best suit the needs of our customers.

Reporting to the Workshop Superintendent, our Night Shift Supervisors support and manage the execution of all workshop activities in a safe and highly productive manner.

Critical to your success will be your comprehensive knowledge of large-scale, world-class fabrication and manufacturing processes. You’ll be engaging, approachable and a proactive Supervisor who excels as a subject matter expert providing on-the-floor support to address quality, production, safety performance and time and attendance. 

This position is a full-time, permanent Night Shift role working the hours of 5:30pm – 5:30am Monday to Saturday, based in Forrestfield.

You will be

• Developing a culture which encourages self-driven personal development, teamwork and collaboration.
• Providing expert technical guidance and support to the night shift team and troubleshooting any issues as they arise.
• Analysing and planning efficient workspaces and tooling for optimal efficiency.
• Welcoming and supporting new employees and contractors with onboarding procedures and ensuring all inductions are completed and compliant.
• Chairing all pre-start meetings, encouraging engagement and feedback on any high-risk tasks and new initiatives.
• Adhering to the Quality Management System and Safety Management System through all work scopes, ensuring statutory compliance.
• Guiding the efficient production from scope of work to product roll-out.
• Performing daily inspections to ensure proper usage and correct wearing of PPE, adherence to equipment safety protocols and effective use of safety controls.

You will possess

• A tertiary qualification in Engineering or hold a trade certification.
• A minimum of five years’ Supervisory experience within heavy steel fabrication and manufacturing processes and technologies – preferably buckets and dump body trays.
• Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and make well-informed decisions under pressure.
• Outstanding communications skills to converse with and instruct a bilingual workforce for whom English is a second language.
• Proficient to be able to consult with diverse stakeholders, both client-facing and internal.
• Confidence and possess strong interpersonal skills to be able to consistently show respect to fellow team members.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
