Your Position:

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to: -

  • Working with the Manager CityPlanning in the effective planning, delivery and management of the Unit
  • Providing high level expertise, advice and direction in relation to developing, consulting, reporting on and implementing Strategic Land Use, Planning, Development & Urban Management Strategies, Plans and Policies matters as well as heritage conservation within the Council
  • Contributing to the creation of exceptionalurban environments and places through the provision of timely expert advice fordevelopment applications and delivering high quality strategies, plans andpolicies across a broad range of council programs and projects, includingmasterplans, development control plans, and character and place plans
  • Ensuring that Burwood Councilcontinues to develop a strong approach to place making that advances Burwood asa unique place and destination that is supportive of a diverse community andattractive as a destination for new businesses and investment. This will beachieved through the delivery of a contemporary and effective strategicplanning policy and initiatives, with a focus on quality built form andenvironmental outcomes

To be successful in this role you will have: -

  • Tertiary qualifications, at degree level in Town Planning and working experience as a Strategic Planner
  • Tertiary qualifications, at degree level in Heritage Conservation and working experience providing Heritage Advice and Assessment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively, whilst developing working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Knowledge and ability to develop and implement high quality and effective education and stakeholder engagement strategies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to represent Council in public forums in a professional and knowledgeable manner
  • Availability to work out of hours and on weekends as required

Key Requirements:

  • Current Driver's License
  • NSW White Card / General Construction Induction card
