Senior HS Advisor - Risk, Systems and Compliance Specialist

Health, Safety & Environment (Mining, Resources & Energy)

Elecnor has been contracted to build EnergyConnect, a new 700km transmission line extending from Wagga Wagga NSW to the South Australian border. 

This backbone infrastructure will connect customers with more renewable energy enabling a further 4950MW of generation capacity, save NSW customers $180 million a year and create 1,500 new construction jobs in regional NSW. 

Construction of EnergyConnect is underway in various locations across the project area.

This is a newly created role, which will primarily be based in our Sydney CBD office, with travel to site as needed (mainly around the NSW Riverina area). 

The Role:

Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Manager, Health and Safety – Risk, Systems and Compliance, the Senior, will play a vital role in supporting continual improvement in the sustainability performance of Elecnor.

With your extensive professional knowledge and highly developed interpersonal skills you will be able to contribute to a purpose-led, high-performing culture within the safety and health function that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity.

You will provide technical support and risk-based guidance to the Elecnor Business units and projects on HS Risk, Systems and compliance programs.

This role will focus on developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive HSE systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, mitigate risks, and promote a culture of safety and environmental sustainability. 

Your duties and responsibilities 

will include:

  • Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and programs specific for construction projects.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of substations to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to site personnel on HSE best practices, procedures, and protocol.
  • Management of HSE Advisors on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assist with accreditation requirements of the company to subscribed standards (OFSC, ASNZS 4801; ISO 14001; ISO45001) including auditing to standards.
  • Transfers HSE knowledge and skills that enable line managers to set and maintain high standards and clear expectations.
  • Working closely with and building collaborative networks with senior leadership and all internal stakeholders to ensure strategic plans are achieved, and that relevant people and health and safety plans are aligned to meet strategic and operational objectives.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; benchmarking professional standards; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining practices that reflect contemporary, evidence-based approaches and meet legislative requirements.
  • Maintaining awareness of strategic and operational demands and priorities, engaging with staff across all levels of the organisation and providing efficient and effective responses.

We are seeking someone who has tertiary qualifications in a health, safety or related discipline, and has ICAM Investigation. You will demonstrate at least 5 years of reporting and analytical experience, have previously worked in construction projects, and have experience developing health and safety security systems. You will have demonstrated knowledge of health risk management principles and implementing continuous improvement.

Note that this is a fixed term contract until December 2025.
