About the role:
The Regulation & Compliance Specialist role is crucial in shaping and implementing Alinta Energy’s strategy regarding electricity and gas wholesale market regulatory issues, while ensuring compliance and minimising risks. Clear communication, strategic thinking and the ability to collaborate with cross functional teams will be essential as you will be working closely with the West Coast Trading & Portfolio Management and Spot Trading business units.
In this role, you’ll be:
- collaborating with the Wholesale Regulation Manager and business units to formulate and execute strategies addressing West Coast electricity and gas wholesale market regulatory issues
- conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis of proposed regulatory changes to support Alinta Energy’s advocacy strategies
- drafting and submitting compelling written submissions to advocate for favourable market and regulatory changes
- providing analysis and advice to minimise Alinta Energy's West Coast wholesale compliance risks, with a strong focus on Offer Construction obligations.
- supporting the implementation of regulatory changes to ensure systems, processes, and assets are optimised and compliant.
Ideally, you’ll bring to the role:
- degree or equivalent professional qualification in Economics, Commerce, Business, Law, or a related discipline
- strategic thinker with independent judgment capabilities and adept at conveying complex information in a clear and easy to understand way
- skilled in preparing reports and written submissions
- strong communication and interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships with multiple stakeholders
- experience in the energy sector, particularly in wholesale energy markets (desirable)
