The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced manager with proven leadership abilities to join Spruson & Ferguson as a Trade Mark Practice Manager to lead a high performing team.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Trade Mark Practice Manager works closely with the Firm Leadership Team, specifically the Trade Mark Practice Group Leader.
The Trade Mark Practice Manager will be responsible for overseeing people management and a range of processes and systems within the Trade Mark function to drive team performance that contributes to the overall success of the Firm.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):
- Operational management of the Trade Mark support and administrative team;
- Build, motivate and develop a high performing and engaged team;
- Onboarding, resource planning, recruitment and performance management;
- Provide training, development and support to new starters and the wider team as required;
- Manage the allocation of work to team members, ensuring work is distributed fairly and consistently following standardised processes;
- Administration of client conflicts and quarantining requirements;
- Provide a positive client centric experience by ensuring the consistent application of processes;
- Providing proactive specialist advice and support to internal stakeholders and working collaboratively with other teams;
- Act as the first point of contact for any trade mark support team issues (people, outputs, financial etc);
- Play an active role in supporting the successful delivery of initiatives across the Firm.

Skills and Experience
To be considered for this opportunity candidates will have:
- Detailed knowledge of the IP industry and trade mark lifecycle;
- Ability to manage and lead a national team including providing day-to-day operational guidance and support;
- Strong stakeholder management and excellent communication skills (written/verbal) and presentation skills.
- An ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders across the business;
- Time management/organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines, while remaining calm under pressure;
- Attention to detail and practices to check work thoroughly for completeness and accuracy;
- Project management experience with the ability to follow major projects through from start to completion;
- Strong problem-solving capabilities;
- Business and commercial acumen with an interest in innovation;
- Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision;
- A high degree of IT literacy with the ability to learn new software programs quickly; and
- Strong Inprotech or similar IP software skills.
