About the Role
As we embark on ambitious digital infrastructure projects, we’re seeking a talented Facilities Manager to play a pivotal role in the journey. You’ll have the unparalleled opportunity to be involved in the entire lifecycle of our project, influencing the decisions made in the build phase, all the way through to transitioning to effective operations and maintenance. You’ll deliver high-quality, cost-effective data centres for Soda Infrastructure, collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders and be instrumental in driving excellence, innovation and efficiency across our infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Build Phase:
- Lead project management efforts for the design and construction of data centre facilities in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth.
- Engage with a number of key internal and external stakeholders to enable outcomes.
- Review and optimize electrical and mechanical system designs, ensuring constructability and efficiency.
- Spearhead the Request for Information process and manage equipment installation and fit-out activities.
- Conduct on-site audits, reviews, and commissioning tests to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
- Oversee total project quality including assisting with commissioning and integrated system testing and oversight of the execution of the project.
- Concurrently manage multiple projects including new data centre building and capital improvement projects associated with existing data centres.
- Travel to data centre sites for electrical systems audits, mechanical system reviews, constructability reviews, start-up testing, and full commissioning, as required.
Operations and Maintenance
- Manage ongoing operations, including risk mitigation, maintenance, and vendor management.
- Implement initiatives to enhance data centre resiliency and operational efficiency.
- Provide operational support, review procedures, and drive best practices.
- Collaborate on corrective and preventive maintenance efforts to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Regularly inspect and maintain structural components of facilities to maintain optimal environmental conditions for telecommunications equipment.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems are in place and functioning correctly to provide continuous power in the event of outages.
- Implement and maintain robust security protocols to protect the facility from unauthorised access or physical threats.
- Develop and adhere to preventative maintenance schedules for all critical systems to reduce the likelihood of equipment failure.
- Establish clear response procedures for potential physical infrastructure issues.
About You
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field
- Telecommunications background (preferred), with extensive knowledge of cabling and cable management
- Knowledge of all aspects of data centres including electrical and mechanical configurations, rack management, design and installation
- Previous involvement in a project from facilities build phase to operation and maintenance (preferred)
- Extensive experience in design, construction or program management in mission critical facilities
- Strong project management skills, with a track record of successful project execution.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
- Resourceful, with an ability and willingness to problem-solve with innovative solutions
- High degree of organisation and detail-orientation
- Must be an Australian Citizen and hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance
